Editorial፡ Reconciliation with whom and when?

Reconciliation is a vital social factor. Reconciliation is a parameter of civilized society. Reconciliation requests a solid ground of give and take procedures. Reconciliation is conditioned by a constructive positive thinking.

As many nationals have said, it starts at home because its part of a charity from one side to the other. Unless ready for a compromise, a reconciliatory process wont work. The first and foremost quest is reconciliation with whom. There are elements in the Diaspora who are advocating for the regime that stands for itself alone. The regime of Isaias is not standing alone. The regime of Isaias has stood, and standing and will stand for the HIGDEFITE society. It includes the Diaspora elements that are either defending or acknowledging the hegemonic attitude and approach and we all Eritreans, by now, know well and read each by heart. Defining and redefining of dictions will not work either. Its time to recall and be at the right order of sense. The regime has made all the atrocities any healthy man cannot imagine and do in the name of “SERVING THE MAJORITY’s INTEREST.” Which majority then? Who is benefiting from the erroneous land and economic policies of the regime? Who is the “majority” the regime is serving? Which majority is feeling at ease with the isolationist and exclusive policy of the regime? Lets, then, define the word “majority” from practical not literal context.

We believe that, the majority of the Eritrean society at this right juncture is waiting for GODO of Samuel Beckett. They are all looking forward for a radical change. Isaias and his Diaspora cohorts, at any cost, are not for a change be it radical or reform. Who then, for the sake of emphasis, is the majority the regime is mulling? From this logic and point, reconciliation with the regime is unthinkable unless we are part of the “majority” for whom PIA is advocating and defending. Any human is not a blind fold to seek for a better solution. Meaning any one thinks in a better way to secure the advantages. The vast majority of the Tigrinya speaker of Diaspora, at the era of this regime is not beneficiate. Because the regime has crippled them to death. Today, they are the parts who had turned in to HAVENOTS and yet are against any change of regime in Eritrea. From a critical view, they should be the first to wage an armed struggle instead of peaceful means. Who had lost the bonds? Who had lost its original birth place and becoming a second class citizen in Diaspora? Look at the flood of the refugees and still there are elements that are defending the regime. What makes them to stand on the side of the regime that is inflicting them? The logic is simple and understandable. They are defending for the political power the regime has secured so far. They don’t want to see the political status swing away or shift against the regime because it’s against their interest. They don’t want to see Eritrea of and for all. Unless such kind of thought is replaced by the civilized and accommodative one, Eritrea will remain at ebb. And if and only if such thought is on the table reconciliation will take place. Thus far, reconciliation with the regime, its cohorts and at this time is unthinkable. And let’s not waste our time in defining and redefining vocabularies.
